CHOY LEE FUT
AND ARMY
The army is a group of people whose main goal is the defense of a territory including all its belongings and its inhabitants, as well as, the conquest of new territories. CLF system is regulated by the same principles.
To be able to obtain these goals, an army has qualified and specialized people who train in the “art of war”, and CLF Kung-Fu does the same thing.
Nowadays, battles are very different from battles in the past. Today, the battlefield of martial arts is the so called “forms or sets” competitions. These forms are called differently in the different martial systems they are practiced in: “Kuen”, “Kata” or “Punse”.These forms are also shown in demonstrations where martial students show their abilities in the different martial systems they practice and unfortunately, we have to use our knowledge on martial arts for self-defense or to defend other people (relatives and friends) against other people’s assaults.
Together with those fighting techniques, soldiers also practice different gymnastic exercises that help them to improve their physical and mental condition. CLF students practice another type of gymnastics, the Lohan Gong, because soldiers, as well as sportsmen, can do better and can achieve their goals in a more positive way if they have a healthy body and a balanced mind.
Both, the army and CLF have a number of specialized people who work to prepare soldiers or sportsmen to be in good physical condition. We refer to military doctors in the army; in CLF we have sportsmen specialized in acupuncture, acupressure and massage techniques’.
When the army sets a military camp, this camp must be safe, easy to protect and easy to undertake defensive and offensive tactics from. To get all this, the army makes use of architecture, engineering, etc… For those purposes, CLF uses Feng Shui.
To prepare soldiers in their duties, we still use methods perfectly planned, based on the experiences of previous wars together with the power of modern tools. CLF has a great variety of rhyming couplets, principles and theories of training, the Eight Trigrams foundations, etc…as well as the modern technology.
In the army we have a musical band for the different military events. In CLF we have the Lion Dances”.
To fulfill all the objectives previously mentioned, the army has its own regulations, that is to say, rules to follow; CLF has an ethical code.
